This journal wanders about. It's poetry, reflections, snippets from other stories and ideas of others, and my own pot luck thoughts reflecting the transparent thinking of this post-traumatically stressed, majorly depressed social phobic before and after my breakdown.

Rapid Response?

I've been seen by two social workers (for two years total, consecutively three years ago) and SEVEN psychiatrists, the last one about a year and a half ago. I have been recently looking in our local community for one to assess my medications and affirm them or make suggestions for change. My referral went to the "Rapid Response" program of our local hospital's mental health service and after six months waiting, i received a call from them today, indicating that it would be ANOTHER six months before a doctor would be able to see me.

In Canada, we have labels and pictures on our cigarette packages, depicting diseased lungs or children gagging from their parents' cigarette smoke hoping to discourage all to quit puffing. They have one with a graph on it which i have always found compelling and politically (umm) interesting. Guess what!!!! - Of all the ways to die, suicide is by far, by far, by far the most common (did i say BY FAR?) and yet.......?.....mental illness is (yes, BY FAR) the least funded medical issue in our country.

Sigh.
